Dressing the Prado

LOEWE creative directors Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have designed new lab coats for the restoration department of the Museo Nacional del Prado. Called “second skins” by the restorers, the coats are worn every day during the team’s vital behind-the-scenes work.

Functional design

Designed to meet strict requirements of comfort and durability, the coats are constructed in dark materials that prevent any reflection of light on pictorial surfaces

Championing craft

The collaboration marks a new chapter in an enduring relationship, which began in 2023 with the launch of the Writing the Prado initiative. LOEWE will continue to support the restorers’ work with handmade lab coats each year.
